Our world is greater and deeper then yours; our world knows suffering, our world knows hunger and death and violence. Our world knows grand ideals. Our world understands criminals and pedophiles, our world understands terrorists, our world understands everything. That is why we are superior to you and to prove it, we will force our world upon you and we will feed on your fear, and we will laugh as you go down screaming. Because how do you *dare* think you can be content with yourself? Everytime you think you have neared us, we will widen the chasm further. Everything we can find, we will smear in your face; all your certainties we will undermine, everything that makes you feel safe, we will contaminate. Your arch enemies we will welcome cheeringly and house them under your noses. Everything we will take away and we will make sure there is nowhere left for you to turn. If you protest, we will insult and belittle you. If you resist, we will sentence you. We will manipulate you and lie to you untill you have no thought other then the fiery wish to be absolved of your guilt and affectionately seal your own definitive downfall. We will transform your world into a hell; that serves a higher purpose, although we don't have a clue what that purpose actually is.''
That may be written in a rather dramatic style for effect, but it essentially sums up the attitude of the 'progressive' who seems to be motivated by nothing less than a profound malice towards the existing order, and anyone who represents that hated order.
This sentence seemed apt for today:
''If you protest, we will insult and belittle you.''
And that is what the left is busy doing today: insulting and belittling everybody who is coming out to townhall meetings to express honest opposition to these changes that are being imposed on us.
Lanny Davis wants protesters photographed and investigated.
And of course you knew that the Republican party is staging those townhall 'mob' protests, right?
The Democratic National Committee released a Web video Wednesday charging that Republican operatives "have no plan for moving our country forward, so they've called out the mob."
The video shows footage of angry constituents and protesters at recent events and then flashes pictures of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Minority Leader John Boehner, Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, and even conservative talk radio icon Rush Limbaugh on the screen.
The ad says "desperate Republicans and their well-funded allies" are trying to "destroy President Obama."
Interestingly, the Republicans turn the tables on Democrats, who in the video referenced in the link above, tell their stooges, I mean, party members, to call the RNC and voice their outrage.
This is a new level of shrillness and nastiness from the liberals. I don't think that even the Clinton era, with its slash-and-burn political tactics, was as bad as this.
What is behind this? The perennial optimists on the right will say that the left is 'desperate' and 'afraid' because our side is waking up. The more obvious answer might be that they are getting increasingly bold and aggressive because they know they can. They have the power and they have the race card always at hand when they need it.
Maybe they have been storing rage up for years while they were out of power. But are they ever really out of power? They have the media on their side, and their point of view has been the dominant one for at least half a century, with only the mildest resistance from 'conservatives.' They've really been in charge since the Roosevelt era, with a few glimmers of opposition here and there.
It really is ironic, almost laughable, that they are so indignant about 'right-wing' protesters, since they have had the market cornered on rowdy protests (far rowdier than anything seen from our side) for years. Look at how their protesters behaved themselves when they stopped Tom Tancredo from speaking at a college, or Jared Taylor, or any number of others. They've wantonly attacked peaceful citizens who came to counter-protest at their pro-illegal demonstrations. None of these leftist prigs like Nancy Pelosi, or Harry Reid, had a word to say about any of that, but now they suddenly find their voices.
As for these shadowy 'wealthy' individuals who are supposedly funding these Republican protests, George Soros, anyone?
There are any number of filthy-rich liberals and leftists and 'foundations' bankrolling the ragtag lefty protesters.
Rent-a-mobs are the specialty of the Democrats and the left. Many of their protests are orchestrated and staged in a way that no Republican protest is. I say this as one who was a part of many leftist protests where yes, people were bused in to the site of the protest, and I also know of cases where phony 'Nazis' were a planned part of the scenario, and choreographed scuffles were part of the show. So much of what the left does is dishonest and pre-scripted. Don't believe everything -- or much of anything -- you see in any event involving the left. They are liars and deceivers.
Most laughable of all in these accusations from the left is that these silver-haired, respectable people were some kind of rent-a-mob, paid agitators -- just compare them to the usual unwashed, black-clad, masked, rabble who participate in leftist protests.
Not all of the leftists who show up to protest war or racism or fascism or what have you are paid protesters; most are true believers, who are willing to do whatever, legal or illegal, to further their cause. And many of them, in my experience, are not recruited by some higher-up; word of mouth is sufficient in most cases for people to attend a protest or a demo.
But the same can be said of these conservatives who are coming out to the townhall meetings; they are not getting marching orders from Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck or their local 'right wing extremist' talk radio guy. They are just people who keep up with the news, who talk about politics with friends and co-workers, and who genuinely feel outraged by what is going on. Nobody needs to stir them up, and nobody is directing them to do what they do or say what they say. Conservatives and libertarians are a different kind of being from liberals and progressives. They are not part of a hive-mind in most cases. People on the right may hear about some event by way of some forum or blog, or yes, a talk-radio host locally, but they are not 'taking orders' from anybody. What you see is what you get.
I've conjectured, since rational explanations seem few, that the present regime is going out of their way to foment anger and division. And as they are blatantly trying to criminalize the right, all of us, even those respectable-looking people who are getting irate at townhall meetings, they seem to want to corner us and goad us. They seem to be trying to get people to act out so that they will have a pretext for harsh action against us. And frankly, those rank-and-file lefty true believer types are scary. Their language and vocabulary displays an incredible amount of hatred and contempt for traditional Americans, and I believe that they would not have any inhibitions about harming their fellow Americans.
Even Glenn Beck, of whom I am not the biggest fan, was musing today about whether there is a conscious effort to stir up some kind of response from the right. What do you think? Is it just desperate leftists, flailing about, or is it overconfident 'progressives' feeling their oats and overplaying their hand? Are they clueless, or is it all a clever plot?
