Romney picks Ryan

I am not very into party politics these days, given the pathetic set of politicians who make up our political classes, but I was surprised by Romney's choice of Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his running mate. I was resigned to the possibility that somebody more appropriately 'diverse' would be the VP candidate. Those who loudly championed their favorite diversities (Rubio, West, Jindal) will be sorely disappointed. Having a ticket composed of two White males -- how reactionary.

I haven't followed Ryan's career but it looks as if he is fairly sound on most issues, especially in comparison with the usual crop of emasculated Republicans. Scroll down this page to read some of his statements on various issues.

I don't know that this will motivate me to vote for the GOP ticket, or to vote at all. But it certainly is novel to have a ticket that is not kowtowing to political correctness.

Some of the FReepers think Ryan is 'boring'; I think they've been listening to all the White male bashing in the lying media for too many years, and have fully internalized it. Some of them are still lamenting that Allen West or Marco Rubio were not chosen. Pathetic.

Thoughts, anyone?
